Learn to apply materials from the BRIO Material library to your 3D model.
BRIO has a library of beautiful, ready-to-use materials to add to your objects.
Add a material to a single object part
1. Select object part
If your model is made up of multiple parts, use the objects panel to select the part you wish to edit.
If you are using the practice model, select the seat of the chair by double clicking it on the canvas or by selecting it in the objects panel.
2. Open Material Library
Select the Library tab to view all BRIO libraries. OPEN BRIO MATERIALS. You can also access this library from the Material Panel on the right side of the workspace.
3. Browse by Category
You can use the dropdown model to browse materials by category.
4. Apply a material
Select a material to add it to your object.
For this demo, go to the plastics category and select “blue shiny plastic” to apply it to the seat.
Add material to multiple object parts
1. Use the objects panel to select the next parts you want to edit.
In the case of the practice model, it is the base of the chair. The objects panel lists all of the elements in your scene.
2. Use the Materials panel to access the library.
Open Material tab on the right side of the workspace, and select the ”current material” thumbnail. This will allow you to access the material library while keeping the objects panel visible.
3. Apply a material
Scroll or use the dropdown menu to view the metals category. Select “Aluminum” for the base.
Follow the same steps to select the 4 rubber caps and apply the “worn rubber” material.
In the Material panel, click the current material thumbnail again to close the library. This panel contains the Material editor, where you can change the colour, texture and shading settings. These are preset by the 3D artists who create BRIO's library materials. For this lesson, we’re going to stick with these presets.
